Actoid 25mg – Acitretin Capsules

WHAT IS THIS MEDICATION FOR?
Actoid 25mg is used to treat severe psoriasis and other serious skin disorders that have not responded to other treatments. It helps normalize skin cell growth and reduce scaling, redness, and inflammation.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Actoid contains Acitretin, a retinoid (vitamin A derivative). It works by regulating the growth and differentiation of skin cells, reducing excessive skin thickening and plaque formation in conditions like psoriasis.

HOW TO USE?
Take Actoid 25mg once daily with food, preferably at the same time each day. Swallow the capsule whole with water. Follow your doctor’s dosage instructions carefully.

SIDE EFFECTS
Common: Dry skin, lips, and eyes, hair thinning, joint pain, increased sensitivity to sunlight
Serious: Liver toxicity, high cholesterol or triglycerides, mood changes
Regular monitoring may be required. Inform your doctor of any severe or unusual symptoms.

WHAT TO DO IF I MISS A DOSE?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it's near your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double dose.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Avoid alcohol, as it can increase the risk of liver damage and birth defects

  • Do not donate blood during and for at least 3 years after stopping treatment

  • Not recommended for patients with liver disease or high cholesterol without medical advice

WHEN DO I NEED TO SEEK MEDICAL HELP?
Seek immediate help if you experience vision changes, severe headache, abdominal pain, jaundice, or depression.

CAN I TAKE IT WITH OTHER MEDICINES?
Avoid with:

  • Vitamin A supplements (risk of toxicity)

  • Tetracycline antibiotics

  • Methotrexate or other hepatotoxic drugs
    Inform your doctor of all medications you are taking.

FOOD RESTRICTIONS
Take with food for better absorption. Avoid alcohol completely during and after treatment (due to the formation of harmful metabolites).

HOW TO STORE
Store at room temperature (15–30°C) in a dry place, away from sunlight and children. Keep in the original packaging.

PREGNANCY CATEGORY
Category XStrictly contraindicated in pregnancy. Can cause severe birth defects. Effective contraception is required during and for 3 years after treatment.
